Mekhia (Khia) Thompson, Theartofkhia, born 1999 is a multidisciplinary artist based in Missouri. Through a blend of multiple mediums, the intricacies of day to day life are translated to raw expressions of self. Influenced by experiences from all walks of life, they take memories and manifestations and blend them into one. Through a bold use of color, their works experiment with lighting and expression inspired by music, nature, landmarks and people to spark conversation and connections. As of recent, through the use of multiple figures, they portray the human nature of longing and the need for connection--rather it be natural, familial, communal, platonic or romantic. They aspire to inspire a change in the perception and interaction with art, one work at a time.
